Credit mobility is an umbrella term covering the financing mechanisms (reduced-rate green loans, state subsidies, employer contributions) that let an employee or company acquire sustainable-mobility equipment: a standard or electric bike, an electric vehicle, a charging station. It is not a single legal device but a category of tools that complement the sustainable mobility package (FMD), which is itself a tax exemption.

Where the FMD exempts expense reimbursements, “credit mobility” covers the investment in a clean mode of transport. The most common levers in France are:
- The conversion bonus and the ecological bonus for buying or leasing a low-emission vehicle.
- Green bank loans at preferential rates for a bike, scooter or electric car.
- Employer financing: a company bike, an electric fleet, or a contribution to a home charging station.
Tax framework
Some of these subsidies (conversion bonus, ecological bonus) are paid by the state and capped by income and CO₂ thresholds. Others fall under benefit-in-kind rules or optional employer contributions, with their own exemption caps.
Worked example
An employee buys an electric-assist bike for €1,500:
- State bike bonus: €150
- Employer support (optional, up to €600/year, free of social charges)
- Remaining cost: about €750, financeable over 12 months interest-free via a green loan.

Who pays the conversion bonus?
